The Jefferson Technology Park incorporates the finest features of Traditional Neighborhood Design and New Urbanist planning principles which are found in many of the most successful mixed-use development projects from around the country. Over the past several years, the Frederick County Board of County Commissioners and Office of Economic Development have envisioned an Advanced Technology Park within the US 340 / MD 180 / I-70 corridor west of the City of Frederick. Implementation of the infrastructure necessary to serve a major mixed-use employment campus; including regional road improvements, water and sewer were among the many challenges facing this project.
The community has been planned utilizing the five-minute walk neighborhood as the core structure of a compatible mixture of employment, commercial, residential, recreational and civic uses. In keeping with the most recent trends of successful employment centers around the country, the developer envisions a truly mixed-use community designed to a higher standard where people can live, work, shop and play.
